The €88M Blanchardstown project is an innovative infrastructure that addresses the impact of urbanisation and population growth on the environment. The project features a linked structure of three circular concrete tanks and tunnels that attenuate storm water and prevent untreated wastewater overflow into the river Tolka. This infrastructure protects important habitats and ecosystems in the area, ultimately leading to cleaner beaches and healthier seas. The project was praised by the jury for its elegant and sustainable design.
