Across Scottish Water and other water authorities, manhole brakes are increasingly being specified to slow incoming
flows by dividing them into two channels. Traditionally, these brakes have been constructed in-situ—an approach
that comes with significant challenges: Skilled labour shortages, silica dust exposure, waiting on concrete deliveries
